Knoxville Bookkeeping Services for Small Businesses
Clean, reliable books with specialized experience in real estate and construction
About Me
I was born and raised in Montana, where I spent ten years working in the oilfields. That chapter is where my business journey really began, eventually leading me to start my own trucking company, which I ran for over five years. Real estate has always been a passion of mine, and that's ultimately what brought me to Knoxville, Tennessee.
Running my own businesses taught me a great deal, but the most important lesson came when I realized my own books were a mess. As I dug in to straighten them out, I unexpectedly fell in love with bookkeeping and discovered the work I truly wanted to do. Having been a business owner myself, I know exactly what it feels like to hire someone and then be left in the dark, unsure of what's happening with your own money.
That experience is the reason I do things differently. Communication is what I take the most pride in, and I stay in close, consistent contact with every client I serve. You should never have to wonder about the person handling your finances or chase someone down for answers. When you work with me, you gain more than clean and accurate books. You gain a partner who has been in your shoes, who is always easy to reach, and who genuinely cares about helping you understand your numbers and feel confident in your business.
Bookkeeping Services
Your time is better spent building your business than managing your books.
Every week, I log into your accounts and categorize every deposit, expense, and payment into the correct category inside QuickBooks. Every entry is structured so your books are clean, your reports are meaningful to you, and your accountant has exactly what they need to file accurately at year end.
At the end of each month, I reconcile every transaction in QuickBooks against your actual bank and credit card statements. This process catches errors, duplicate charges, and missing transactions before they compound into larger problems, keeping your books accurate and audit-ready at all times.
Each month you receive a Profit & Loss Statement and a Balance Sheet. Your Profit & Loss shows exactly what you earned and what you spent. Your Balance Sheet shows what your business owns and what it owes. Together, these reports give you a clear, accurate picture of your financial position throughout the year.
Every invoice you send is tracked and every payment you receive is recorded and matched inside QuickBooks. You will always know who has paid, who hasn't, and exactly where your receivables stand at any given time.
For real estate investors and construction businesses, I provide job costing reports that track income and expenses by individual property or project. Whether you are running fix and flips, executing a BRRRR strategy, managing buy and hold properties, or overseeing a construction project, you will know exactly what each one costs, what it returns, and where your money is going at every stage.
Need your taxes handled too? I specialize in bookkeeping, but I partner with a trusted accountant I can refer you to whenever you need that service as well. We stay in close contact and communicate often, so every client we work with is fully taken care of on both the bookkeeping and tax side.

★★★★★ "We’ve been working with Brett since the beginning of the year, and the experience has been excellent. He communicates clearly, stays on top of everything, and has really helped refresh and organize our books to run much more efficiently. We found him after not having the best experiences with several others and our experience with him has been a much needed relief. Overall, we’re very happy with his work and highly recommend his services."

★★★★★ “I work closely with Brett Cline, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. His bookkeeping is accurate, consistent, and well-organized, exactly what you want if you care about clean financials and stress-free tax filing. Brett is proactive, communicative, and genuinely invested in his clients’ success. When he refers tax work to me, I know the books are solid and that the client has been well taken care of throughout the year. That level of trust is rare. If you’re looking for a bookkeeper who actually understands the bigger picture and works seamlessly with your tax professional, Brett is the real deal.”

★★★★★ "I can’t recommend Cline Bookkeeping enough. We originally connected through mutual circles, and what stood out right away was how proactive he was about following up and earning my business. After I checked references, it made sense—multiple business owners told me he did an incredible job cleaning up their books, and even the CPA he recommended (who sees his work across several clients) had nothing but great things to say about the quality of his work.I’ve been working with him for a few months now, and he’s been phenomenal. I honestly thought my books were in pretty good shape… I was wrong. He cleaned things up thoroughly and organized QuickBooks in a way that finally makes sense for my construction business. He set up accounts and reporting so I can run accurate profit & loss reports across multiple years—which is huge when project expenses and income don’t fall neatly in the same calendar year. He also showed me capabilities inside QuickBooks I didn’t even know were possible. He’s consistent, detail-oriented, and stays on top of everything with weekly check-ins and proactive reports (even when I don’t ask). If you want a bookkeeper who is sharp, thorough, and genuinely invested in getting your numbers right, this is your guy!"
